Finding Peace as the Holidays Approach
As the holidays get closer, I know how easy it is to feel pulled in a hundred directions. Between planning, shopping, and trying to make everything special, our peace can quietly slip away. But I’ve learned that when we pause, breathe, and bring our focus back to God, He reminds us what this season is truly about.
My hope is that these words help you slow down, rest your heart, and find peace in His presence this holiday season. 💛
1. Remember the Reason for the Season
When things start to feel hectic, take a moment to pause and remember why we celebrate in the first place. The holidays aren’t about perfection, performance, or possessions — they’re about the presence of Jesus.
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…” — Isaiah 9:6
When we center our hearts on Christ, the busyness fades, and peace begins to fill the space where worry once lived.
2. Pray for a Peaceful Spirit
Before your feet hit the floor each morning, whisper a simple prayer:
“Lord, calm my heart and guide my day. Help me carry Your peace wherever I go.”
Prayer refocuses our minds and reminds us that we don’t have to handle everything on our own. God’s peace surpasses all understanding — and it steadies us when life feels scattered.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7
3. Simplify and Let Go
You don’t have to attend every event, buy every gift, or meet every expectation. Ask God to show you what really matters this season — and let the rest go. Sometimes peace comes not from adding more, but from releasing what’s unnecessary.
4. Be a Light in the Chaos
The holidays can be hard for many — those grieving, lonely, or struggling financially. Look for small ways to share God’s love. A kind word, a helping hand, or a simple prayer can shine brighter than you realize.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16
5. Rest in God’s Presence
Find quiet moments to breathe and just be with Him — maybe while sipping coffee in the morning or driving in silence. God’s peace isn’t loud or flashy; it’s steady, gentle, and always available.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
A Closing Thought
Peace isn’t about having a perfect holiday — it’s about having a peaceful heart. When we keep our focus on Jesus, everything else falls into place. This season, may your home be filled with laughter, your heart with gratitude, and your soul with the unshakable peace that only comes from God.
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.” — 2 Thessalonians 3:16
With love,
Tammy 🤍
